I feel even after he is adopted by Kinde and Zed,Schell still goes "hunting"/"scavenging" for ingredients on his own for periods of time,just because when he was but a humble vending machine he was programmed to search for suppliers to fill his system with the necessary ingredients. He is very secretive but also paradoxically extremely open, especially since Nurse Kinde is designed to be a therapy unit this Schnell spits his android guts at him. Also I imagine he's also like Bert Schnick from shock Treatment.

Kinde's Goggles aren't really his real eyes,they're just digital projections designed to simulate eyes since he has only empty sockets because his biomanufacturers(Manihands Cybernetic and Bioengineering Syuppliers' Medical Care & Bedside Solutions chapter) were too cheap. Why pay millions in synth-organic tissue and ocular nerve wiring when a $12 curved LED screen strapped to his forehead can just render expressive cartoon eyes? The APRO's line of occupations would necessitate them to use HUD digiglasswear anyways,why not cut of the middle hand? He doesn't have to worry about cataracts or getting dirt in his eyes!
