But Tim started as a bad father and becomes a good father. Alvey redeems himself in the end because he learns the importance of Tim. Alvey hated Tim because he was an unsuitable father who should've never had a son,lest a literal godbaby.
The point of Sotm is that Alvey is an unholy abomination who chooses to be good. Like how Loki and Tim choose to be better.
Sotm established Tim neither is competent enough for nor wants fatherhood,and if not for Alvey literally being a Norse deity woudlve died at Tim's foolish hands.

Alvey grew to hate Tim because Tim hated him. Alvey is neither good nor evil,he has the EQ of a toddler,and the intelligence and power of a literal God. He is closer to a baby Herakles and Vishnu than Baby Jesus in that he has to consistently face literal demons to prove his worth while fighting his own demonic impulses. It is through Tim finding the strength and courage to love and protect his only son that Alvey takes on a more heroic and divine role in his life. Alvey is only as monsterous and horrifying as Tim precieves him as.

Otis the Dog is the Id,the raw primal animal fighting instinct,Alvey the Baby is the Ego, untapped human creativity and potential that needs consistent guidance to avoid self destruction,and comes Tim forced to become the SuperEgo,who must defeat his shadow self in Loki. Otis' Mask/Bighead form represents Tim's desire for the status quo and things to turn back to normal,even if it mean the death of his own Son. To reclaim the mask Tim must quell Otis,his ID,the horny violent dog on him, to save his family and defeat his shadow self. Tim and Loki are direct parallels to eachother. Two immensely creative and gifted people who have done absolutely nothing with their talents,both forced to reach their full potential through forces outside their own doing.
