i use natual pancil brush for blending as well for rendering, and i sometime use The occasional oil brush when i rendering the painting. this shit is not easy, like it take a shit ton of hour to Complete one painting

i use the community support V3dmm/virtual 3dmm
is a far better version of 3dmm because you can add mod to it

plus you can run it in almost every pc no matter how shit they are
